One day, when I was reading, I realized that something was wrong. Fortunately, my doctor took me on and referred me to the Cyberknife Center. And that's where I received the treatment I needed.

From the very beginning, Dr. Muacevic was there for me, explaining everything to me in detail – I found it fascinating. He told me about the next steps, about what was going to happen, how I had to conduct myself during treatment, and that I didn't have to be afraid because I wouldn't feel any pain or discomfort.

Interacting with our patients on a personal level is very important to us. The more high-tech your medical approach is, the more you must engage with patients. So, our process is fairly straightforward: We have the initial consultation with the patient to decide whether Cyberknife treatment is possible or not. In specific cases, this advanced type of tumor therapy can replace conventional surgery or radiotherapy.

The Cyberknife emits photon beams which are all focused precisely on the tumor. Think of it as fine brushstrokes: one brushstroke, two, three, up to 120, 130, until the entire tumor is covered with a radiation dose.

The procedure is also fairly simple: the Medical Assistant picks up the patient from the waiting room and takes them to the treatment room. There, we make some final adjustments – which take no longer than 20 or 30 seconds. And then the treatment begins: we press the start button, the robot gets to work and after 20 or 25 minutes the session ends.

This technology allows us to treat tumors in many different locations. In fact, it is not about the histology, i.e. the type of tumor, which decides whether we can treat it or not. It is much more about where exactly the tumor is located, how big it is and whether it has fused with the surrounding tissue.

Thanks to the Cyberknife's high accuracy of less than one millimeter, the surrounding tissue is barely affected by the radiation. In fact, we can concentrate the entire dose on the tumor itself, allowing us to work very efficiently and safely. And fortunately, most health insurance companies in Germany cover the costs – BKK Mobil Oil is one of them.

It all felt so incredibly friendly to me. After all, if you don't know what to expect, I think it's very important to feel at home. And that's exactly how I felt. The aftercare and regular check-ups were very straightforward – they always had the latest images.

For me, the only unpleasant part was the MRI at the radiology center. But the consultations — looking at the images — were always very, very interesting. I was never afraid, not a single time. After each appointment, I went home without any problems; back to work like nothing had happened. It was great! I couldn't imagine anything better, and I am glad that I was referred here.
