What is the ZAP-X?

As a pioneer of modern radiosurgery and an international reference center for the CyberKnife and ZAP-X, we always offer our patients the latest, highly specialized technologies and developments in our medical field.

In contrast to conventional radiation therapy, which uses low radiation doses over several sessions, in modern radiosurgery the individually high-dose treatment is delivered to the defined target tissue with extreme precision: With maximum protection of the surrounding healthy tissue, ZAP-X therapy can be precisely targeted to the tumor.

The ZAP-X robotic system is based on a unique gyroscopic (rotational) freedom of movement (GRS = gyroscopic radiosurgery). It combines revolutionary high-tech with an extremely short treatment time of sometimes only around 15 minutes.

The ZAP-X treatment system is designed exclusively to treat certain brain tumors, lesions, and other conditions in the head and neck region. Microsurgery or conventional radiation therapy can thus be avoided in selected situations.

High-tech for optimal treatment success

The ZAP-X sets new standards in modern radiosurgery: It combines extreme precision with the unique technology of self-shielding.

For patients, this precision means that we can treat benign and malignant tumors so effectively on an outpatient basis that usually only a single session is required. After a detailed final consultation with instructions for aftercare, you can leave our centre on the same day.

Special questions and answers about ZAP-X therapy

We use the ZAP-X specifically to treat diseases in the head and neck region, such as small, benign central lesions in the brain. Whenever larger tumors are involved, for example, those located well below the skull base, the Cyberknife method, with its significantly broader range of applications, offers advantages over the ZAP-X.

The ZAP-X system is completely self-shielding, allowing treatments to take place in natural daylight – without requiring treatment rooms in a concrete bunker. This allows your family members or accompanying loved ones, as well as the treatment team, to remain in the treatment room throughout the entire therapy session.

Almost all private and international health insurance providers cover the treatment costs. Please inquire for your cost estimate.
